Brilliant event but prepare for lots of climbing !
More marshalls and directions near top of run where cloud/mist can be an issue would be good.

Appalling customer service.
Unfortunately I had emergency major open heart surgery after a training session whilst training for this event. so was obviously unable to do the race.
I have been trying to contact TBF events for weeks via various email addresses and also via social media messaging, but had absolutely zero replies.
All I wanted to know is if it was possible to defer my entry till next year, given the unexpected circumstances. If theyd have bothered to reply with a "No". Then I could have at transferred my entry to somebody else.
Meanwhile whilst not replying to my emails, they kept bombarding me with promotional emails for the lead up to the event.
I have raced this event twice under the previous event owner "Tri-Hard" and never had any issues. It seems the new owners are only interested in making money instead of replying to customers questions.
Hi Rick, Sorry to hear you had a negative experience. We have clear T&Cs around deferral and refunds, which if you didn't buy the Refund Protect Insurance are set in stone with the dates. I did reply to you twice, but it appears you never received the emails, and I am not sure why that is the case, but I will investigate.

Got to be on a triathletes bucket list

Tough but amazing triathlon
Having competed in the Helvellyn triathlon from its very first year, this is one event I return to. Tough, challenging course. Really tests your strength of body and mind. The most scenic triathlon you will ever do!!
Joshua Smith
Tough event especially when mother nature chucks her ten pence in. Overall well organised with friendly atmosphere.
A toilet or two would be ideal in transition as you have you run out of transition and run round to use the toilet then run back to join up with were you left off. The swim appeared to be 400m/500m short as seen on many participants strava data including my own. A few more flags up at the summit would of helped as well , i appreciate with the mist up there was bad but it was hard to see some of the flags that were out as it was.

Superb, iconic triathlon in stunning surroundings
Superb organisation, fantastic marshals and amazing support, all set in a stunning backdrop.
Flippin tough but hugely rewarding as a consequence..
Thank you to all involved!

One of the best!
Great organisation and a fantastic route. I notice that some people were disappointed about the short swim - which suited me fine. Joking aside though, I think that the swim does put some people off so maybe offering a bike-run option too would bring in more participants.
Overall a great event that I would definitely recommend.

Iconic
I would recommend & definitely one for the bucket list. The only thing I'd say I'd prefer a bit more support, say an aid station up the mountain. A unique experience!

Elevation
All in all great event as a relay team, it gave us a good feel for each discipline individually!
We hope to all compete next year as solos.

Challenging
Can’t wait to come back and race again.
If you’re looking for a race that will challenge every discipline then this event is for you.

Brutal but iconic event for every triathlete
I loved it, will certainly be back and check out your other events.
Just a note, you need a toilet on transition. The only toilet was not on route so you'd have to leave the course to go. Not what you need in the middle of a rave when thinking is not strong point

Iconic race!
A bit more space in transition would be good; we all had so much kit to cram into a tiny area.
Other than that- brilliant event! 10/10
Shortened swim, no goodies.
Hi, I enjoyed the event but, the swim was marked for 1.5k myself and know one I was with had heard it had changed to 1k . The end of the aquabike was a bit naff, Im not that bothered but other people might of wanted a medal, as it might have been a big thing for them. A cup of water or a slice of orange wouldn't have gone a miss. Peanuts when there's only 17 aqua bikers , and
I understand it's probably very expensive to run, but £88 for a reduced swim and bike ride, without a free cup of water or medal seems high. And for that reason id only give it maybe recommend for the aquathon.
Regards Garry
Ps coming back next year for the tri
Hi, the swim wasn't deliberately shortened - I am investigating if it was short as the Sailing Club marked it out. There would have been an announcement had the swim been deliberately shortened. The aquabikes were meant to run / walk out of the run out chute to go down the finish line for their medals and finish line goodies.

Really loved this event. Whilst it was very well organised, it still felt quite ‘low key’ rather than some of the large loud brash events. I’ll definitely come next year. Thank you!
Jenny Grindrod
Tougher than Ironman Leeds
Marshal’s all round the course. Massive buoys, clear course, one lap, lots of safety boats. Arrows round bike course and flags on run route.
A challenging route, practice hills but generous cut off.
Rachel Simpson
Great day out
The mile swim was only 1km. Unsure of the reason for this. A little disappointing as trained for 1 mile. It would be nice to know why the distance was so in accurate.
Otherwise a great event.
Stuart Blacklock
Amazing event in a fantastic setting.
Marshals were fantastic
Paul Norris
Great event with typical lakes and weather
Kelvin Fowler
well marshalled event, stunning scenery
Awesome event, well organised, well marshalled on a intrinsically complicated swim and run route.
Bryan Lowrie
Has to be one for the bucket list!
Done this 3-times, first time today as a BF event - organisation and atmosphere was excellent and loved the respect for the minute silence at the start. It’s the perfect distance so just when you begin to wonder why the hell you’re doing it you’re approaching the finish!
