Great from start to finish

Loved the event. Perfect for experiencing the beauty and crazy elevations of the Lake District. Up there with the Fred Whitton, for me.

Two years ago I entered, but didn’t participate as I thought it was too tough. It is tough, really tough but definitely achievable. To anyone who’s considering this, please try it. The organisation is great, the people participating are incredible, the scenery is to die for. The briefing at the start was one of the best I’ve heard. Very informative and nice. The swim is fine, lakes a little cold but nothing special. The cycle is very fast except for the struggle. My strategy was to push it up the really hilly bits, and I wasn’t the only one. The run isn’t a run, it’s a walk up and a trot down. Some lovely people to talk to to take your mind off the pain. Please, if you’re considering this event, just do it, you won’t regret it.

Had a great time and definitely recommend! Only thing to improve would be more flags on hellvelyn. I ended up going off another path with poor visibility. Figured it out and got onto the route but more flags would have helped this as there wasnt a clear path at the top
Also no secure bag drop unfortunately which would have been helpful. Otherwise great event and would do again !
